Concerns Over the Safety of Mexico... Let's be Real - By Tom Karnes

Posted in In The News
In fact, the tourist areas of Mexico that received such poor press are the destinations that are safe and are ready to welcome you.

I want to start this article off by expressing my condolences to the families that have lost a loved one due to questionable actions in Mexico, but to be fair I should also express my condolences to families that have recently lost loved ones in Italy, Costa Rica, Ireland, Canada, California, Kenosha and so forth.  I truly feel for these families.  Travel is supposed to be a happy experience, something to look forward to and that you can share with others.  When something goes bad during travel it becomes a whole different experience.

The recent and ongoing attack on the safety of Mexico’s tourist areas is unfair and not deserved.  Last year alone, the Cancun/Riviera Maya area received over 3 million visitors and to define the safety of entire destination on a select few incidents is not right. Sure, there are parts of Mexico that I would not recommend you travel to, but there are also parts of the United States that I would not recommend that you travel to as well. In fact, the tourist areas of Mexico that received such poor press are the destinations that are safe and are ready to welcome you.

While I cannot guaranty that you will be 100% safe while traveling to Mexico, that also goes for any other destination you travel to or even the city you live in. It’s all about keeping everything in perspective.

Of course there are ways to minimize your risk when travelling, which starts by using a qualified travel agent (I know a few if you need a recommendation). A good travel agent will pair together the destination you would like to travel to, with a safe and reputable resort that will suit your needs. A good travel agent will include an In-Destination Representative who will assist you with your transfers, excursions, customer service issues, advice and even emergency situations during your travel. Their main job is to ensure your safety and happiness while traveling. They are an extension of your qualified travel agent.

One of our preferred In-Destination Representatives in the Cancun/Riviera Maya area is Lomas Travel. If you have ever been to Cancun airport you will probably recognize them as the team wearing the white pants and the teal blue shirts. The Lomas Travel team provides 24/7 assistance during your travel. Travel is all about setting expectations and the most memorable experiences; that is exactly what a qualified travel agent will do for you.

Since the poor press that Mexico has received, we have seen some of the lowest prices I have seen in years - for even the peak travel season. So, if intentions to travel to Mexico but have any concerns, stop in or give us a call; any of the Travel Experts at LaMacchia Travel will be more than happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Time moves by way too quickly, and life is meant to be lived and enjoyed. I recommend to get out and see the world, you will be amazed at how it makes you feel.
